Huge Congratulations to Catherine Terry for winning the ladies Clonakilty Duathlon today.

Catherine was sitting second after the first run by just over a min but took a huge 7 mins off of the leader on the cycle giving her self a massive 6 min cushion going in to the final run, a lead she never let slip as she came home over 4 mins in the lead. A huge result for Catherine!

Our Top male was Niall Hickman coming in 28th in a tough field.

Well done to all our members that entered.

It is with great pride in our club that I sit to write this article and proudly present AJ Murphy's Midleton cycling and triathlon club's Irish Hill climbing National champions jersey for 2016.

We have many great racers in our club, but we lose many of them to others teams and it has always been great to see AJ winning races in Mctc colours, So with that in mind it is even better to see him a Mctc National champs jersey.

Jersey is supplied as with our other kit by Velo revolution and is a fantastic clean twist on the Champions jersey and it certainly stands out from the crowd.

Aj is relatively new to cycling but has had success that many of us in our hobby sport could only dream of. Aj's success it is clear to see is from a desire to work harder than anyone one else and put time in on the bike, he is a class act and a great representative of Mctc so its great to see him carrying our name on his champions jersey.

I had the pleasure of talking to Aj soon after the winning of this event and although the result was soured by the mix up that took place on the day it was clear to me how happy he was to win this event, giving him a real justification for the hours and hours of time he has spent in making himself the beast of a cyclist he is today.

It is clear also that this jersey carry's real meaning to Aj and MCTC is delighted to have this jersey made and for Aj to wear it, We know he will do the jersey proud.

"This jersey has taught me to believe that anything is possible" Aj Murphy

So with one champion getting ready to be kitted out another club member and also National champion has already taken delivery of his new jersey for 2016.

Velo Revolution founder Aidan Crowley debuted his own Champions jersey this weekend whilst riding for his Strata3/VeloRevolution Works Team at the Rás Luimní 2016.

Great to have two members in national colours in 2016

Former Beginners!

For those wondering where you go to from here now that the Beginners spins has ended, You have a couple of options.

The club, generally, posts spins on Facebook for 3 groups for the coming Sunday - Green, Amber and Red groups.

Each group will have a different average speed & spin distance.

Green Group - 23-26kph 50-80km

Amber Group - 26 - 28+ kph 70+ km

Red group 28kph +

The Green Group are the group most former beginners group should now be doing the Sunday spins with unless you believe you are good to go with the Amber Group.

We've had plenty people from the beginners group go straight into the Amber Group in the past and fit right in with the speed and distance, so if want that challenge go ahead.

Keep an eye, here and on Facebook for your groups plans for Sunday and don't be afraid to ask questions if unsure of anything.

The social Facebook page is also where many other spins can be posted by members .

https://www.facebook.com/groups/257762761054420/

We suggest you all request to join asap.

Members generally plan other spins from here so if your off midweek and looking for company on spins, the social page is where you will find company.

Members looking to go to sportive, duathlons etc will also post their intentions to take part here as well as other important club info.

Congratulations on your graduation.
